October...2009

Dear Anne,
I would like to let you know that Sr. Josephine Ruppen died in Naters,

near Brig in Switzerland and was buried there on the 24th of September.

Sr. Josephine was for many years the cook in La Chassotte.

Many past pupils will remember her not only as a good cook but as a happy and caring person.

When the school closed she went with two other sisters,

Klara Brumann and Dominique Kaufmann to work in a home for elderly people in Naters.

She cared there for many years until she got sick herself.

Josephine had a heart problem and was quite uncomfortable during the last few months.

Her death relieved her from much pain.

May she rest in peace, and may all those who remember her keep her in her prayers.

with thanks
Veronika FCJ.

May she always have an Angel by her side.

It is with great sadness I announce that

Dolores del Rio (Loli)

died on 13th June after a long illness.

She will be very much missed by all her friends

from La Chassotte.

Sincere condolences to her family from us all.

February 2009

Susan Borlase (La Chassotte 1955-1962)

passed away peacefully on Sunday 1st February 2009 after a long illness.

Susi had great strength and determination thoughout the last

few years which helped her to overcome the physical difficulties she was experiencing.

She was a very kind and thoughtful friend to many of us and I will miss the

warmth and compassion she had for other people.

Rest in Peace Susi.

With fondest love and happy memories.

Anne.

Susi was such a good friend to us all at school, friendly, motherly,
full of fun, strong, dependable, helpful, kind - just the most positive
young girl who befriended us all. For those of us privileged to visit
her later in her life, these attributes never left her. I will always
remember her as an example to us all, and regret that I fell far short
of that friendship while she was alive. She will be there for us all,
in our memories, and if any of us feel low, alone, in pain, then we only
have to remember dear Susi, and how she coped over so many years keeping
her sense of humour for all who visited or communicated.
God bless you, Susi, and Thank You XXX

Sarah Avery (nee Midgley)

Susi was a remarkably strong woman and yet a fine, gentle, loving, caring "mother"

to everything and everyone from baby lambs and dogs and to us "lost sheep" at boarding school.

I think she would want to be remembered above all for her strength and her endurance,

and for her love of animals.

"It's very unusual at our age," said 93 year old Sister Delores Kirby, a retired nun of the Faithful Companions of Jesus order.

"It's a challenge. I'm always a bit afraid I might fall over."

An 'Easter Meditation' from Sister Veronika Schreiner.FCJ

Merci
